“start with an empty cup,” recent sculptures from an ongoing project starting with paper coffee cups, taking an every day emblem in different directions. This is a rule-based project that begins with a simple form and tests a tolerance for change.  Gestures and structures grow from actions. These have a double life as what they were, something we throw away without a second thought, and what they become, vessels for holding onto awareness.
